Professional Development

“Outstanding! I’m excited to start the year! I wish this was a requirement for all teachers!”

~ Elementary School Teacher, Springfield, MA

ENCHANTED CIRCLE THEATER has been training teachers to integrate theater arts across the curriculum for over three decades. Our workshops offer both theoretical and practical applications for using theater arts as a dynamic teaching tool to engage and enhance learning in social studies, language arts, math and science.

Participants explore academic and social content themes through theater games, creative curriculum templates, and open-forum discussions. Teachers leave our workshops with an expanded bag of tricks to actively engage their students, along with new strategies to heighten creativity and productivity in the classroom.

ECT has conducted professional development workshops for the History Institute at the University of Massachusetts, The Wang Center in Boston, the Smithsonian Discovery Theater in Washington DC, The Teaching and Learning Center in New Haven, CT, The Arts in Education Center in Hadley, MA, Forty Carrots Preschool and Parenting Center in Sarasota, Florida, and has taught Arts Integration Workshops for many city-wide school systems throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York.

ECT  regularly works with human service agency staff on creative techniques for developing communication skills, building trust within the work community and strategies for releasing stress on the job.

“The activities, followed by in-depth discussions about both the process and the connections to learning, and to the standards, was phenomenal! This program was enjoyable, challenging, valuable and necessary. It helped me be ready for teaching this year.”
~ Middle school teacher, Springfield, MA

"The most valuable things for me about this session was the exploration aspect of it- why we should incorporate the arts and how we can do that. We were actively participating, thinking, inventing and creating in a fun, warm, non-threatening atmosphere. We learned and created at the same time, and took back powerful learning ideas and activities for our classroom."
